Shavar Thomas
Men’s National Football Team Assistant Coach
Coach Shavar represented the Jamaican National Team as a player and team captain at all levels; that is the Men’s U17, Men’s U20, Men’s U23 and Senior Men’s National Teams. He also played in the 2001 World Youth Cup in Argentina. Shavar played two seasons of college football at the University of Connecticut in 2001-2002 and was named NSCAA second-team All-American within his second year. His playing career has led him to the Kansas City Wizards, Los Angeles Galaxy, Chivas USA, and Fort Lauderdale Strikers, just to name a few.
In the coaching arena, Coach Shavar was the assistant football coach at St. Jago High School in 2012-2014, Head Football Coach at Excelsior High School in 2015-2017, Assistant Football coach at Wolmers Boys School in 2018, and head coach of Portmore United F.C. in 2017-2019, all of which was conducted in Jamaica. Under his leadership, Portmore United F.C. won two consecutive Red-Stripe Premier League titles, and qualified Portmore United FC for the Caribbean Club Championship.
