2017 Spring College Identification Camp & Showcase
In an effort to create potential college pathways for some of the Turks and Caicos Islands’ most talented football players, TCIFA invited 6 football coaches from various Colleges and Universities throughout the United States of America. Players from the TCIFA’s Boys and Girls Academy Teams (U13-U17) were decided upon by their home coaches. The camp which commenced on Friday February 10th, at the TCIFA National Academy in Providenciales, afforded our elite players the opportunity to participate in training sessions, as well as be observed and assessed during competitive matches with the intent of earning partial or full tertiary education scholarships and representing the institutions in the sport of football.
The team of coaches was compromised of Bart Sassnett (Falcon’s Head Men’s Soccer Coach of Daytona State College), Oliver Twelvetrees (Titans Head Men’ Soccer Coach of Eastern Florida State College), Edna Crehan (Men’s Soccer Coach of Patrick Henry Community College), Munga Eketebi (Head Men’s Soccer Coach Broward College), Charlie Flowe (Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach of Philidelphia University), and Kathryn Saunders (Head Soccer Coach of Texas Southern University).
TCIFA Technical Director, Darren Meehan, expressed“this is something that the TCIFA is very proud of and this will hopefully be a huge step forward for the futures of our players and also the future of our National teams.”
Thanks, InterCaribbean Airways for sponsoring air transportation for those participants living on other islands.
