The Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association is pleased to announce that Makenson Cadet has been awarded a full Football Scholarship to ASA College in Miami, Florida.  Makenson is a player that started with the TCIFA in the Grassroots Program, where he excelled to the extent that he matriculated to the U11 Center of Excellence at a very young age.  He continued to show remarkable improvement in his technical and tactical ability and remained in all the various age group teams of the Center of Excellence.  Ultimately, he was invited to join the TCIFA Academy Team at the age of 13 and became the youngest goal scorer in the Provo Premier League at age 14.

Makenson went on to represent the Turks and Caicos Islands at the senior level in both Beach Soccer and traditional football.  He has also represented the Nottingham Forest U17 Academy at a major European age group tournament in Bulgaria, in 2015.

This opportunity for Makenson came out of the TCIFA’s College ID Camp initiative hosted by the TCIFA in February of this year.  The invited coaches were impressed with the level of play by Makenson, and the comments and feedback from the Coaches reflect that additional scholarships for other players are being contemplated.

President Sonia Bien-Aime had this to say: “ Makenson’s success and accomplishments to date speak volumes about the TCIFA’s Grassroots and Youth Programmes.  This is a player who started with us at the U9 level and his football growth and development is a credit not only to Makenson’s hard work and commitment but also to the hard work and commitment of our volunteer Coaches, and a recognition that the infrastructure and programmes that we have in place are working to produce players that are sought after by football loving entities. We wish Makenson all the best and encourage him to play the game with the energy, quality, enthusiasm and the same humility that has served him so well over the years.”

Makenson departs the island shortly and will pursue a degree in Business.
