Jeff Beljour invited to MLS Caribbean Combine
Jeff Beljour stands amongst 22 players participating in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Caribbean Combine, which is set to take place at the Sawgrass Hotel and Suites Sports Complex near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA on January 9-11.
The invitation-only event organized jointly by Major League Soccer, the top professional men’s soccer league sanctioned by U.S. Soccer, and Caribbean Football Union (CFU), annually showcases Caribbean talent between the ages of 18-21 years. All 31 CFU member associations are encouraged to nominate representatives who fit the criteria. Selected players are given an opportunity to compete in front of league scouts prior to the MLS Super Draft, where MLS Clubs sign players during the transfer window. Those players will then advance to the MLS Combine, which usually runs from March to October, with each team playing 34 games.
Beljour, not long ago chosen to participate in TCIFA’s Fall ID Showcase and Camp in an effort to explore college opportunities, is the Captain of the TCI U20 Men’s National Team, the TCIFA Boys Academy team, as well as a representative of the TCI Men’s National Beach Soccer Team.
“One of the primary objectives of the TCIFA is to create player pathways for the talented and elite players within our programs,” said TCIFA General Secretary, Oliver Smith. “We see this as a way of further developing our players, which in turn will improve the quality of our Senior National Team. This is a massive opportunity for Jeff to be exposed to an intense and higher level of football with the hope that his quality will be recognized.”
We wish him all the best and we are comforted that he will represent us well and fly the Turks and Caicos Islands flag in a very high fashion.
