Ricardo Joasilus and Patrick Altidor Earn Sports Scholarships To Play Abroad
It is always a delight to see when hard-working athletes are rewarded for their talents. Ricardo Joasilus and Patrick Altidor, both footballers at the TCIFA Academy, have been offered scholarships to take their talents abroad.
Ricardo Josailus started playing football at a very young age of 5. He played at his first academy in Haiti for Coeur de Lion FC club. He spent 3 years here; in 2012 he moved to Mercure FC d’Haiti, where he spent the next 4 years improving his foundational skills.
Ricardo made his move to the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2016 where he began playing for the TCIFA Academy. He was also able to achieve the TCIFA MVP award in 2018 Provo Premier League. In 2021, he departed the Academy team to then play for the SWA Sharks FC.
Ricardo’s success has not only been exhibited on the football field, but also within the classroom. He graduated from Maranatha Academy in 2019; success may not have been easy but he accredits his accomplishments to God and his former teachers. Ricardo achieved a long list of awards after graduating, with some of the most notable being Most-Outstanding All-Round Student and the Best Performing Language Student CXC/GCSE.
With Ricardo’s long list of academic achievements compiled with his sheer dedication and determination on the pitch, it is no surprise that he was offered a sports scholarship to Snow College in Utah to train under coach Charles Long. Ricardo plans to major in microbiology and continues to minor in computer science.
Patrick Altidor began playing football at the TCIFA in 2014. He started off on Academy Jaguars FC in the Provo Premier League before he went on to Beaches FC, and then eventually transferred over to Teachers FC. He was the top goal scorer for both the Academy Jaguars and Beaches teams.
Patrick graduated from TCIPS Comprehensive High School with a diploma and 4 CXCs.
Patrick has always been a gifted scorer and so it was evident an opportunity would be handed to him in due time. He has been granted a sports scholarship to the Allen County Community College in Kansas, where he will be training under coach Doug Desmarteau. He intends to major in business administration during his time there.
Ricardo and Patrick have worked immensely hard for these scholarships and It is almost certain they will continue to achieve their goals and improve even more.
