Turks & Caicos Islands National Football Team player, Herby Magny, received his college degree on Sunday, April 14, 2019, as Providence University College of Manitoba Canada held its fall commencement exercise. The 21 year old graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Biblical Studies.

Magny who joined the TCIFA grassroots programme over 12 years ago, continued on to the TCIFA Boys Academy where he participated in the Men’s Provo Premier League, and represented  both the Academy and Full Physic FC over the years. He was drafted to the Turks & Caicos Islands Men’s National Football Team making his international debut in the 2014 Concacaf World Cup Qualifying Group Phase against St. Kitts & Nevis. Additionally, Magny was selected to the TCI Beach Soccer National Team for the 2015 Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifiers in El Salvador.

In continuing his love for football, Magny joined the Providence University College Pilots Men’s Soccer Team and played a significant role in that team reaching the National Championship tournament  in South Carolina in 2017. His presence on this team will obviously be greatly missed.

“ I am so happy to be able to share this milestone with so many of my family and friends. I am beyond grateful and blessed. My parents have been my pillar of love, support, strength and guidance. I know how much they have sacrificed for me, emotionally and financially. I thank them for their endurance, and for never giving up on me. The Turks & Caicos Islands Football Association, President Sonia Fulford, and General Secretary Oliver Smith, have been with me from the beginning to the end, making a significant contribution to my football development, as well as my education. My teammates from the Turks & Caicos Islands not only looked out for me as a brother would, but they encouraged me to keep pushing forward in my studies. All of these people have inspired me to be the best student I could possibly be, and words could never express how thankful I am for each and every one of them.”

President Sonia Fulford was enthusiastic in her praise for Herby and his accomplishment. “This is a young man who grew up in our programmess and we embrace his accomplishments.  Herby represents another one of our successful stories of youth players who utilized the sport of football along with their own passion for education, to make life better for themselves and their families whilst always recognizing the role we at the TCIFA played in helping them on this path.  We celebrate his success and wish him all the best going forward”.

Magny intends to return to University to pursue a Masters Degree in Business, and one day, open a business of his own. He continues to play for the Turks & Caicos Islands Men’s National Football and Beach Soccer Teams. His upcoming tournaments include the 2019-2020 Concacaf Nations League, and the 2019 Concacaf Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifiers, Mexico.
