TCIFA partners with T&C Refreshments for the 2nd consecutive year to host the 7th Annual Walk-Run-Ride
The Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) held its annual Walk-Run-Ride on April 27, 2019. For the second consecutive year, T & C Refreshments was the Headline Sponsor for the event which drew a crowd of family, friends, and stakeholders.
The event featured corporate participation from entities such as Hertz (Mystique Car Rental & Tours) and Turks & Caicos Collection. The involvement of these companies aided in bringing attention to the importance of exercise in the TCI. The Islanders, once again, demonstrated their unwavering compassion and support for our youth and football development, as they assembled in numbers to raise vital funds that will help the TCIFA continue its mission whilst moving our community closer to our goal of a healthier Turks & Caicos.
The Funds raised from the event will be utilized within the TCIFA’s Youth Development Programmes. These programmes are currently being conducted on the islands of Providenciales, Grand Turk, South Caicos, and North/Middle Caicos. A significant increase in participation has been recorded since the introduction of the Fortis TCI Youth Leagues, and inter-island football competitions, with numbers soaring over 600. These programmes have not only helped to improve the overall physical health of our children, but playing football has been proven to increase cognitive development, promote discipline, respect, resilience, and also enhance social interaction and problem-solving skills.
Following a warm-up and stretching session, Walk-Run-Ride participants immediately laced up their sneakers for the 5K/ 10K walk/run along turtle tail road, or the 32K cycle around turtle tail and Grace Bay. Upon their return from the route, they were treated to post-exercise refreshments, health screenings, mini spinal-postural assessments, and a prize-giving ceremony.
The event’s presenting and premier sponsor was T&C Refreshements. Other principal sponsors included The Royal TCI police Force, Projetech Construction Management & Services Ltd, Flamingo Pharmacy, Graceway Sports Center, Graceway IGA Supermarket, Kiss N Makeup Beauty Parlour, Courtyard Chiropractic Wellness Center, Interhealth Canada – TCI Hospital, Marsha Lightbourne-Missick, Desmond Quant, and Adina Ciurar.
