Women’s Football Player, JoddyAnn Lowe, Awarded Partial College Football Scholarship
“For as long as I’ve known myself, I‘ve always been passionate about football. I grew up participating in many of the youth development football programmes in my hometown, Jamaica. For fun, I played on the street with family and friends. So, as you can imagine, I couldn’t be happier to be the recipient of a football scholarship. I’ve had so many wonderful experiences in my lifetime; intensified by the many opportunities I was afforded through the Turks & Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA). I was able to improve on my skills, and essentially better myself, ” expressed TCIFA women’s football programme player JoddyAnn Lowe.
Prior to relocating, Joddy captained her high school football team in Jamaica. She moved to the Turks & Caicos Islands at the age of 15 years, and was immediately registered to the TCIFA Youth Development Football programme in Providenciales. Recognizing that football was a release for Joddy, her mother used this opportunity to keep her busy, disciplined, and saw it as the perfect way for her to meet new people and make new friends. She furthered into the Women’s Development Programme, where she consistently played in the Women’s Football League, and was always drafted to the TCI Women’s Select Teams.
The quiet striker is mostly known for her humble attitude, leadership qualities, willingness to learn, dedication to winning, and ability to play in almost any position on the field when called upon, with the exception of goal keeping. Most persons would say that she transforms on the field, as this is the very place where her personality shines most.
Joddy graduated from TCIPS High School in July 2018. As a partial scholarship awardee from the Cloud County Community College of Concordia Kansas in the United States of America, she will be enrolled into classes this fall semester, 2019. She intends to study General Business, and her active involvement in football will continue as she joins the Thunderbirds Women’s Soccer Team of Cloud County, under the supervision of Head Coach Charles Long.
