TCIFA Partners With Fortis TCI To Launch First Boys U17 Elite Youth Football League
For the first time in history, TCIFA launched its first Elite Youth League, supported by Fortis TCI. The league consists of eight under-17 boys teams. One team hailing from South Caicos (Mariners), one from North Caicos (Seals), two from Grand Turk (Dolphins and Dynamos), and four from Providenciales (Jaguars, Falcons, Lions, and Eagles).
The league will be played in a round-robin format, with each team playing each other twice. On each match day, beginning May 29th, each team will play two games. The matches will run for 40minutes, i.e. 20 minutes per half. At the end of the league, the final play offs will be 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, and 7 vs 8 for placements.
The Fortis TCI Elite Youth Football League is important to the development and preparation for international competition as it provides continuous weekly competition, and an added opportunity for sister island players to travel. Those who excel will have further opportunity to qualify for the Turks and Caicos Islands Boys Under-17 National Team.
Ruth Forbes, CEO of Fortis TCI commented, “It’s good to be back on the field! Especially, for the launch of the first season of the Under-17 Boys Fortis TCI Elite Football League.” She continued, “The Elite League we are launching here today, is another example of how a vision, collaboration and commitment, investing in our youth can make dreams a reality.”
“ Fortis TCI continues to be a leading corporate citizen in this country through their social and economical development contributions throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands, and more in particular to our youth development through sports,” said TCIFA President Sonia Fulford.
